Hold Slips Updated

Procedure Update!

The current Borrower Notification Procedure is to change the Primary Phone number field in the Borrower Info when the patron wishes to received arrived holds via email/text.

We will no longer do that.

As of January 26, 2017 the only thing in the Primary Phone number field will be the Borrower’s primary contact number, whether it is a mobile or home number.

To receive email or text messages staff must fill in the email field or text field with the correct information and then make changes on the settings page.

Our newly revised Arrived Holds Slips will now show the notification type as well as the patrons primary contact number.

RPL Staff will call every patron, no matter their notification setting unless the patron specifically asks for No Calls.

In the event they ask for No Calls, please place N/C in the Address 2 Secondary Phone Field.

Any other notes regarding patrons should be placed in the Comments Field or Notes.

Hold Slips

Please print a HOLD slip for each item that is on hold for a Patron.

I know that we have patrons that sometimes put a high volume of items on hold and it seems like a waste of paper/time to print each slip, however occasionally a patrons items will not be picked up on time (for various reasons) and the items will be deleted. When that happens, each deletion slip must be kept for at least one full month by Circ Staff. Many times patrons will come back in to place the items on hold again and if we can pull the deletion slips then we can better help them place the items back on hold.

Hold Shelf Transfer Procedure

If there is an item on the hold shelf for a patron
but they would like to pick it up at another location,
you should,
#1 Check the item out to yourself and choose the pop-up option to CHECK OUT & LEAVE REQUEST.
#2 Go into the patron's account and change the Pick-Up location to their choice.
#3 Check in the item and you should get the message to send it to the selected branch.
#4 Place the item on the correct shelf.

Hold Slips

Please make sure that the correct hold slip is rubber banded to the correct item. This can get very confusing if we do not do this immediately!
